U75V

Data under review

U75V is China’s vanadium-microalloyed rail steel to GB/T 2585, the workhorse upgrade over U71Mn for busy passenger and freight lines. Higher carbon, silicon and a small vanadium addition lift as-rolled strength to the 980 MPa class and slow head wear and rolling-contact fatigue.

Hardness~280–320 HB (rail head, typ.)

Properties

Tensile strength≥980 MPa (as-rolled rail)
Hardness~280–320 HB (rail head, typ.)
Density7.85 g/cm³

Heat treatment

Supplied as-rolled (pearlitic); the vanadium microalloy refines the pearlite for wear resistance without head hardening.

Applications & Processing

Applications: Rails for heavy-haul and high-speed conventional lines (60/75 kg/m profiles), turnouts, high-wear curves.

Processing: Rolled to profile like U71Mn; welded by flash-butt or aluminothermic processes qualified for high-carbon rail.
