1.0718 (11SMnPb30)

Data verified

11SMnPb30 (1.0718) is the leaded version of 11SMn30 and one of the fastest-machining bar steels in the EN system. The lead addition (0.20–0.35%) lubricates the cutting zone, extending tool life and surface finish in mass-production turning.

Applications & Processing

Applications: High-volume turned parts, fittings, fasteners, automotive and appliance components made on multi-spindle lathes.

Processing: Superb machinability; like all leaded free-cutting steels it is excluded from welded, structural and lead-restricted (RoHS/ELV-sensitive) applications.

FAQ

Is 11SMnPb30 the same as 12L14?
Functional equivalents: both are leaded, resulfurized low-carbon steels for screw machining. Chemistry windows differ slightly (EN specifies Si ≤0.05 and P ≤0.11), so certificates are checked against the ordered standard.
