S275J0 vs S275JR

These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.

S275J0

Structural & HSLA Steel

S275J0 is the 0 °C impact-tested version of S275, specified where the structure sees sub-ambient service temperatures. Chemistry is held slightly tighter than S275JR to secure the low-temperature toughness.

Standards: DIN 1.0143 (S275J0)

S275JR

Structural & HSLA Steel

S275JR is the middle step of the EN 10025-2 structural family, offering about 17% more yield strength than S235JR at a small price premium. It is a common choice where S235 is marginally too weak but S355 is not needed.
