1030 vs 1035

These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.

1030

Carbon Steel

1030 is a medium carbon steel at the lower edge of the heat-treatable range: it responds to quenching in thin sections and to induction hardening on shafts. It is a widely used forging steel for automotive and agricultural parts.

Standards: DIN 1.0528 (C30) · AISI 1030 · JIS S30C · GB 30

1035

Carbon Steel

1035 is a medium carbon steel for shafts and forged parts of moderate strength. It heat treats more reliably than 1030 and is a standard grade for studs, bolts and machine components across Asian and European supply chains.

Standards: DIN 1.0501 (C35) · AISI 1035 · JIS S35C · GB 35
