60Si2CrA vs 9260

These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.

60Si2CrA

Alloy & Engineering Steel

60Si2CrA is the chromium-upgraded silicon spring steel of GB/T 1222: adding ~1% Cr to the 60Si2Mn base raises hardenability and temper resistance for heavier or hotter-running springs.

Standards: AISI 9262 (near) · JIS SUP12 (near) · GB 60Si2CrA (GB/T 1222)

9260

Alloy & Engineering Steel

9260 is a silicon-manganese spring steel with about 2% silicon, giving an exceptionally high yield-to-tensile ratio and resistance to permanent set (sag). It is a mainstream coil spring steel for vehicle suspensions.

Standards: DIN 1.5028 (65Si7 family, near) · AISI 9260 · JIS SUP6 (near) · GB 60Si2Mn (near)
