353MA vs 253MA

These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.

353MA

Stainless Steel

353MA is a silicon-, nitrogen- and cerium-alloyed heat-resistant austenitic stainless (a proprietary Alleima grade under UNS S35315) built on a 25Cr-21Ni base. It targets carburizing and oxidizing furnace atmospheres at 950–1150 °C, upgrading 310S parts that fail by scaling, creep or carburization.

Standards: DIN 1.4854 · AISI UNS S35315 (353MA)

253MA

Stainless Steel

253MA is a nitrogen-alloyed, cerium-bearing heat-resistant austenitic stainless (a proprietary Outokumpu grade under UNS S30815). Its silicon and rare-earth additions give oxidation resistance to about 1150 °C with creep strength well above 310S.
