S460M

Data verified

S460M is the −20 °C quality of the TMCP 460 grade to EN 10025-4. Controlled rolling and accelerated cooling deliver 460 MPa yield at only 0.16% carbon maximum, so designers get S460 strength with weldability closer to an S355. For −50 °C service the same chemistry is ordered as S460ML.

Applications & Processing

Applications: Long-span bridges, offshore jackets, wind towers, heavy lifting equipment.

Processing: Excellent weldability for the strength class (low CEV); respect the ~580 °C ceiling for any post-weld heating.

FAQ

S460M or S460ML?
Same steel, different impact guarantee: M is tested at −20 °C, ML at −50 °C (with slightly tighter P/S). Choose ML for Arctic or low-temperature offshore design.
