Applications & Processing

Applications: Aluminum/magnesium die casting dies, extrusion dies, hot forging inserts, plastic molds for high-volume runs.

Processing: Use ESR quality for large or polished dies. Nitriding extends die life; avoid sharp corners that start heat checks.

FAQ

H13 vs H11?
H13 has more vanadium and slightly more carbon — better hot wear and heat-check resistance. H11 is a little tougher. Die casting standard: H13.
What hardness for aluminum die casting dies?
44–48 HRC is the common window (NADCA), balancing heat checking against cracking.
