D4
Data verifiedD4 is a deep-hardening high-carbon, high-chromium cold work steel with molybdenum and vanadium added to the D3 base chemistry. It keeps D3-class abrasion resistance while hardening through much thicker sections.

Applications & Processing
Applications: Deep-drawing dies, brick molds, thread rolling dies, large blanking dies, powder briquetting tools.
Processing: Grind with care; carbide banding in large sections is normal. Low toughness — avoid impact loading.
