Cr12MoV
Data verifiedCr12MoV is China’s D2-family cold work steel (GB/T 1299), with somewhat less molybdenum and vanadium than AISI D2 / 1.2379. It is the most specified die steel in Chinese mold and press shops.

Applications & Processing
Applications: Blanking and punching dies, cold extrusion dies, thread rolling dies, shear blades, forming rolls.
Processing: Treat like D2 in machining and hardening. When matching a D2 drawing exactly, compare Mo and V on the mill certificate — Cr12MoV windows sit lower.
FAQ
- Can Cr12MoV be supplied as D2?
- It is frequently offered as the D2 equivalent, but its Mo (0.40–0.60%) and V (0.15–0.30%) ranges are below D2 minima. For strict D2 compliance, order 1.2379/D2 chemistry explicitly.
