A387 Gr.22

Data verified

ASTM A387 Grade 22 is the 2.25Cr-1Mo plate behind hydrocracking and hydrotreating reactors — the workhorse alloy for hot, high-pressure hydrogen service. Its creep strength and hydrogen resistance hold to roughly 600 °C.

Applications & Processing

Applications: Hydrocrackers, hydrotreaters, ammonia converters, high-temperature separators.

Processing: Strict welding discipline: low-hydrogen Cr-Mo consumables, preheat/interpass control, de-hydrogenation heat treatment and full PWHT are mandatory.

FAQ

A387 Gr.22 vs 10CrMo9-10?
Same 2.25Cr-1Mo alloy family: Gr.22 is the ASTM A387 plate spec, 10CrMo9-10 the EN 10028 grade. Chemistry and Class 2 properties overlap closely, but coded work follows the project specification.
