310S

Data verified

310S is the low-carbon version of 310 and the most common heat-resistant sheet and plate grade for welded furnace fabrications. It keeps the oxidation resistance of 310 with better weld-zone behaviour.

Applications & Processing

Applications: Furnace parts, heat exchangers, incinerator components, petrochemical cracking equipment, annealing fixtures.

Processing: Standard high-alloy welding practice; avoid the sigma-forming range in service design; machining slower than 304 due to strength and work hardening.

FAQ

310S or 253MA for furnace parts?
253MA holds strength and oxidation resistance to higher temperatures (about 1150 °C scaling limit) and can replace 310S in hotter zones; 310S is cheaper and more widely stocked.
