1117
Data verified1117 is a resulfurized free-machining steel: added sulfur and high manganese give fast, clean cutting while keeping enough carbon to carburize. It is a standard screw-machine grade for small turned parts in volume.

Applications & Processing
Applications: Screw-machine parts, fittings, bushings, small gears (carburized), fasteners.
Processing: Excellent machinability; sulfur lowers weldability and transverse ductility — avoid welded or safety-critical parts.
