2205 Duplex vs 2507 Super Duplex
These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.
2205 Duplex
Stainless Steel
2205 is the most widely used duplex stainless steel, with a roughly 50/50 ferrite-austenite structure giving twice the yield strength of 316L plus excellent pitting and stress-corrosion resistance from 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum and nitrogen.
Standards: DIN 1.4462 · AISI UNS S32205 · JIS SUS329J3L (close) · GB 022Cr22Ni5Mo3N
2507 Super Duplex
Stainless Steel
2507 is a super duplex stainless with 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum and high nitrogen, giving a PREN above 40 and outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress corrosion in seawater and offshore service.
Standards: DIN 1.4410 · AISI UNS S32750 · GB 022Cr25Ni7Mo4N
