1.2367 / X38CrMoV5-3 vs H13
These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.
1.2367 / X38CrMoV5-3
Tool Steel
1.2367 is a modified H11-type hot work steel with the molybdenum raised to about 3%, closing most of the hot-strength gap to 1.2365 while keeping H11-class toughness. In ESR quality it is a premium die-casting and forging die steel for tools that crack or heat-check in standard H13.
Standards: DIN 1.2367 · AISI — (modified H11 type)
H13
Tool Steel
H13 is the global standard hot work tool steel for aluminum die casting and extrusion. Its Cr-Mo-V chemistry resists heat checking and thermal fatigue while keeping good toughness at working temperatures.
Standards: DIN 1.2344 · AISI H13 · JIS SKD61 · GB 4Cr5MoSiV1
