Carbon equivalent (CEV)
A single number combining C, Mn, Cr, Mo, V, Ni and Cu by the IIW formula CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr+Mo+V)/5 + (Ni+Cu)/15, used to judge weldability: the higher the CEV, the more preheat and procedure control a weld needs.
