EH32 vs EH36

These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.

EH32

Structural & HSLA Steel

EH32 is the −40 °C toughness version of the 315 MPa hull grade, used for polar and cold-climate vessels and offshore structures. It pairs moderate strength with the deepest low-temperature guarantee of the 32-series.

EH36

Structural & HSLA Steel

EH36 is the premium 355 MPa hull grade with impact toughness guaranteed at −40 °C — standard for LNG/LPG carriers, ice-going ships and Arctic offshore structures. It is the toughest of the widely traded 36-series ship plate.
